FIVE ESSENTIAL PROGRAMS
Every year, our District relies on the MPAEF to help sustain exceptional personnel and programs for over 2350 District children. The Foundation is able to encourage and support innovation and enhancements to our kids’ basic education. The MPAEF funds ensure support for 5 essential programs for our District schools: Libraries, Science, Technology, Music and Teaching Excellence.
More specifically, we fund the following personnel who impact your child’s education:
4 District Librarians:
- Lezlie Glare, Librarian, Laurel School
- Gail Bradley, Librarian, Encinal School
- Denise Healey, Librarian, Oak Knoll School
- Tracy Piombo, Librarian, Hillview School
1 District Instructional Technology Coordinator (NEW)
4 School-based Technology Aides
- Remona Murray, Laurel Computer Lab Aide
- Carrie Bildstein, Encinal Computer Lab Aide
- Anthony Hoppe, Oak Knoll Site Technician
- Michael Kaelin, Hillview Computer Instructor
1 District Science Aide
3 School-based Science Aides
- Leah Strichartz, Laurel Science Lab Aide
- Christine Evans, Encinal Science Lab Aide
- Gwen Solomon, Oak Knoll Science Lab Aide
We also fund technology for learning including seed funding to train 38 teachers on tech-enhanced learning with Smart Boards, projectors, laptop labs, and more.
We fund stipends for 70 teachers with Master’s Degrees, 2 with PhD’s and 4 teachers who have National Board Certification.
MPAEF funding made the difference in recruitment of teachers and staff. Our district had 10 qualified applicants for each open teaching position at the elementary level.
MPAEF funding allows the district to invest $2,600 in training for each certificated teacher.
Beyond these basics, the MPAEF grant will also enable the District to continue to invest in the most qualified teaching professionals through the launch of the Educators Recruitment & Retention Career Development Fund. This fund, which is financed by the MPAEF Endowment fund, allows the District to expand on stipends and programs provided to teachers that take the extra step in leadership roles and professional development.
“We are really fortunate to live in a community with such great schools. It’s important that we don’t take the excellence of our school programs for granted. With rising costs, increased enrollment, and tough competition for the best teachers, our collective support of the foundation is needed now more than ever”.
Jennifer and Steve Miller, Laurel School Parents
“Thanks to the MPAEF’s support for music, science, technology, and other special programs, our daughter Lee has been able to discover the joy of learning in so many different ways. She loves playing different musical instruments, weaving new yarn designs, finding out that spiders spin different kinds of webs, and even mastering Type-to-Learn. We look forward to our younger son Andy experiencing the same excitement”.
--Wendy and Brett Fisher, Oak Knoll Parents
“One of the most satisfying aspects of working for your children’s schools is the active support we receive from the parent community. When teachers and administrators develop initiatives to better meet the needs of students, we can count on your funding and volunteer hours to support our efforts.”
--Ken Ranella, Superintendent, Menlo Park City School District
